As many of you are aware, I spent last year trying to rebuild from a devastating tornado that nearly destroyed my home. I had to manage this while also trying to keep my business alive through what I believe was the history making pandemic of our lifetime. Check out this blog if you want all the juicy details of what happened.
Since that time, reconstruction was very slow. Because of the pandemic delivery of construction supplies were slow and prices skyrocketed. In addition, there was a labor shortage.
In time and with much patience, we were able to rebuild. The massive repairs on the house are now complete. Most of the trees and root balls were cleared and the yard smoothed over. I was able to plant grass seed before winter came and established a semblance of a lawn.
We are now out of money. The rest of my property projects will have to come little by little as we are able to save up for it. We have started planting some bushes, trees, and flowers. One root ball still needs to be removed.
A retaining wall in my back yard still needs to be rebuilt. We were able to rebuild our fence and a storage shed.
I am thankful to be alive with my family. The pandemic has killed over 600,000 in the US and the tornado could have ended our lives.
A lot of good people supported my family in our time of need, manual labor, meals, hospitality, emotional support, and even some financial support. I hope to do the same for others. Helping to lift each other up is how we move forward.
