What an event! On Saturday, November 12, 2011, the South Carolina Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SCHCC) held its Third Annual Corporate Gala. This event showcases the positive measures SCHCC has carried out for its members and the community. A rainbow of colors adorned the event, celebrating the diversity of our state. A portion of the Gala ticket proceeds is contributed to the SCHCC Scholarship Foundation, which provides some financial assistance to students of Hispanic heritage to pursue a college education.
The keynote speaker was Dean Hybl, Executive Director of Ten at the Top. He spoke of how important it is to participate in creating Our Upstate Vision so that as we grow, our area will retain all the great things that have brought diversity here. Following the keynote speaker, SCHCC President Evelyn Lugo presented the awards. Imagine our delight as Alfonso Interpreting & Transporting, Inc. was presented with the 2011 Business of the Year. Many bold initiatives were placed in motion, and there were bumps and bruises along the way. Nevertheless, entrepreneurial spirit persevered, and we are happy to state that the business is approaching is fifth anniversary. In these dire times, it is indeed an accomplishment.
Although we cannot presumptuously be business of the year every year, we look to the future to build our company and aspire for greatness, on our own terms.
