Since being elected to the board of the Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters, I have been diligently working to accomplish the lofty goals contained in my candidate statement. It was my pleasure to locate two new exhibitors for our annual conference this past April in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Training, professional development and continuing education are near and dear to my heart.  In South Carolina, there exists a woeful void in these areas. The interpreting programs at the College of Charelston were discontinued; the legal interpretation certificate courses offered at Greenville Technical College never have enough registrants to proceed. Since I have attended over a dozen conferences, workshops, and training, a sense of urgency has burned in my bones to bring top-notch presenters to the Carolinas.

In view of the foregoing, I’m excited to announce that a workshop entitled Court Interpreter Boot Camp!! comes to Greenville, South Carolina next month, September 13 and 14.  It will be presented by Alfonso Villaseñor, an esteemed colleague and recurring speaker at the conferences of both the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators, and the American translators Association.  There are a few seats available, and registration closes Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2014.  The location is 200 Camperdown Way, 2nd Floor, Greenville, SC.  Open the attachment for more details and contact information.
